When was Alhambra Instituto founded?
In July of 1980 in Malaga - Spain

What does Alhambra Instituto do?
Alhambra Instituto (since 1980) provides Spanish language courses in Malaga and other cities of Spain. We offer top quality Spanish intensive courses and teacher training in Malaga, in our main building. Our main school is in Malaga, and we have partner schools in other Spanish towns. Our partener schools are similar in their system of learning, organisation and linguistic background. If you want to do a Spanish course in Spain, you can make a booking through us. Alhambra Instituto arranges the course, accommodation and (if required) the transfer service from the airport to the accommodation.

What kind of progress can I expect to make at Alhambra Instituto?
Our students tell us that they make as much progress in two weeks at Alhambra Instituto as they would have made in 2 semesters at a university. But let's be realsitic about this: We guarantee a 50% higher progress rate than other private schools that specialise in intensive Spanish courses.

The progress sounds great, but isn't it expensive?
No. Not at all. Our prices are very competitive, certainly in comparison with other intensive language schools. Alhambra Instituto offers Spanish courses for comparatively little money. Some people think they will receive better teaching and learn Spanish quicker if they opt for a bigger and more expensive school. Alhambra Instituto delivers the same quality of teaching as any of the larger, more expensive Spanish schools

Does Alhambra Instituto take care of the flight?
You should book your own flight. We can give you advice about good or cheap airlines to Spain. Please contact us if you have any inquiries.

How can I get to the school?
Before your trip you will receive all the information you need in order to get from the airport to your homestay (host family), apartment or directly to our school. You can book an airport transfer (as described below) or we can explain where you can get the Airport-Bus (very easy). For specific inquiries, feel free to contact.

What is an airport transfer?
You can book the airport transfer in advance. An employee of the school will pick you up at the airport and drive you to your apartment or directly to the school.

Normally you will live no further than 20 minutes on foot and 10 minutes by bus form the school.

How will I get to school each day?
Most students walk every morning, some have a bicycle and some go by bus.

Will I be given a key to my homestay and bedroom?

Yes. Your host family will give you a key for the main entrance of the house/apartment, but normally bedrooms are not lockable.

Will I be able to do my washing?
Yes, this is no problem if you live in a shared flat as you will have a washing machine; in the case of a Spanish family please speak with your host family first and ask when it is convenient.

If I don't like my Spanish family, can I change?

Yes. This is possible, but at busy times of the year, you may have to wait.

How long does a complete course take?
You are free to choose the duration of your course. You can book from 1 or 2 weeks minimum up to half a year or even longer. If your preferred course duration isn't mentioned in the price list, please contact us for a quote.

When can I start?
All courses begin on Mondays and end on Fridays. Your accommodation will be booked from Sunday to Saturday. If you already have some knowledge of the Spanish language, then you can start your course any Monday. If you are an absolute beginner, please take a look at the starting dates under 'Spanish courses'.

Is the school open on bank holidays?

No, during official holidays the school is closed. This can be national as well as local holidays. Check out our page of "Prices", here you will find the official holiday dates.

Can I book a course for next week?
In order to guarantee yourself a place in one of our courses, you should enrol at least 2 weeks before the first day of the course. If you would like to start within 2 weeks time or less, please contact us by phone/email and we can check the availability and give you an answer inmediately.

You can book by clicking the 'book now' button and filling in the Form. You can also book by giving us a call between 9.00h to 17.00 p.m. on +34 952 291 509. Or you can send an email with the request to call you  at a time that suits you best.

Do I need a visa to come to your country? Will you write a letter for me?

If you are a citizen of the EU, you do not need a visa. All citizens from other countries must apply to the Spanish Embassy in their country for a visa. This visa is only valid in the country where you stay. We will provide you with a visa support letter for your course in Spain.

Having spent almost 6 years of my life in Spain, it seems to me more than necessary to express my opinion about the beautiful and colorful Malaga, especially now that the summer holidays are just around the corner. Malaga" capital "of Andalusia, in constant battle for No. 1 with Sevilla, welcomes its visitors particularly through the airport, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, but for those who wish to travel by car, there is a highway (a free highway), the N340, that leads from Barcelona along the coast to Malaga and on to Portugal ...

The Feria de Malaga (August 12 to 21) has ancient roots. It was first celebrated in 1491 to mark the entrance of the city into the territories of the kingdom of Castile. Popularly known as Gran Fiesta del Verano (large party of the summer), it is an unusual mix of sincere religiosity manifested by votive processions, and especially by bullfights - and of paganism, as exemplified by the wonderful flamenco shows. The celebration rages across the city with all kinds of events, eating and drinking.

Malaga's beaches are situated very close to the city with all its shops, bars and restaurants. They extend over 14 kilometers, which is surpassed only by the length of the beaches of places like Marbella and Estepona, and are easy to reach, both by public transport or private vehicle. Separated from the noisy city traffic, the beaches with their beautiful promenades are oases of peace and relaxation. Malaga offers a unique combination of sights, museums, restaurants and cultural facilities and the opportunity to just take a stroll along our beaches or enjoy the sun. Visit attractions such as the Picasso Museum, with the brilliant work of the artist, the Alcazaba-Gibralforo fortress complex or the Roman Theater, or simply relax at one of our beaches.
